S&P : From ‘Tempests In Teapots’ To ‘Tone At The Top’

Many financial institutions have reached a turning point on their paths to recovery from the 2008 financial crisis. In terms of the legislative and regulatory environment, much has changed as they completed complex, multiyear restructuring programs largely centered on strengthening balance sheets and the exit or disposal of some businesses. While many initiatives were focused on reducing risk (including avoiding politically charged labels like being ‘too big to fail’), the appetite for risk taking is returning–because risk taking and the rewards that can be earned from taking them is the business of a financial enterprise.
